The Museum of Precious and Rare Books under the National Library of Mongolia has launched an exhibition displaying its unique and invaluable heritage. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge. The collection of the Museum houses not only Mongolian but also over 1.5 million precious heritage items, including rare artifacts, handwriting, and block prints belonging to the many Asian countries' writing systems. More than 200 people visited during the week since the exhibition was opened. The exhibition will continue until the end of May 2024. In honor of National Language and Script Day, the Museum of Precious and Rare Books presents an exhibition demonstrating Mongolia's UNESCO-registered heritage. The exhibition features Mongolian heritage inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, unique treasures from Mongolia's cultural heritage collection, and traditional Mongolian script-written books, newspapers, and magazines. The Museum of Precious and Rare Books houses two great sacred Buddhist texts: the Ganjur (108 volumes), containing the teachings of the Buddha himself, and its companion text, the Danjur. These texts are revered not only in Mongolia but also throughout the world. The Museum was established in 1981 to promote Mongolian script cultures and ancient artifacts to domestic and international audiences.
