State Secretary of Foreign Ministry meets int’l observers in the presidential election
On May 28, Friday, N. Ankhbayar, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Lolita Cigane, head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Special Election Assessment Mission (SEAM) who arrived in Ulaanbaatar to observe the upcoming presidential election that will be held on June 9.
State Secretary N.Ankhbayar provided detailed information on the preparations for the election, including the plans to organize the election during the COVID-19 pandemic, and ways to gather the votes from citizens living abroad, and answered questions from members of the election observation mission.
Lolita Cigane, head of the SEAM, thanked the Government of Mongolia for its support during this difficult time of the pandemic and for providing international observers with the opportunity to observe the Presidential election. The parties exchanged views on the election observation plan and some issues of concern.
The OSCE SEAM includes election observers from Latvia, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, the United States, and Poland.
