Education Minister receives Cuban Ambassador
On April 2, Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan received Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Mongolia Raúl Delgado Concepcion.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted that Cuba allocates 51 percent of its yearly national budget for the sectors of healthcare and education, with 28 percent of the GDP being utilized for education. Noting that 150 Mongolian students have studied in Cuba so far, he then underlined the possibility to grant scholarships to students in more fields if the Ministry specifies the students’ fields.
During the meeting, the Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan requested a Cuban delegation for the high-level meeting for education ministers that will be organized in October. They also exchanged views on further expanding partnership in the sector of science and innovation, sharing practices in biotechnology, and mutual trade of products manufactured by startup companies.
It was also informed that Cuba is successfully carrying out trials of COVID-19 vaccines for children. Of the five COVID-19 vaccines in development in the country, one of them is intended for children. Further information was agreed to be provided.
