On March 12, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene worked at the Ministry of Defense to become acquainted with the operations of the government ministry and innovations and military technologies being introduced in the country’s army and defense sector.
The government’s long-term development policy ‘Vision – 2050’ sets out an objective to strengthen the country's defense system and enhance its capacity and introduce technological advances and develop the defense industry.
Within this goal, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia has created a design of a light armored fighting vehicle and an updated design of a pilotless aircraft, laying the foundation of the domestic manufacturing of military-purpose equipment and technologies, emphasized Minister of Defense G.Saikhanbayar.
Moreover, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mongolia, Major General D.Ganzorig introduced works to enhance the training and preparedness of the units of the Armed Forces and their capacity.
PM Oyun-Erdene vowed that the government will support innovation-based and cost-saving inventions that are in line with the country’s defense development policy.
As presented by the Ministry officials, there are 12 projects and actions of top priority planned in the defense sector for 2021-2024, including technological reforms to improve air border security, supplying airborne with medium aircraft equipment, constructions of Data Center for cybersecurity of the Armed Forces, a military hospital in Bayan-Ulgii province, a general laboratory and a model military town at the National Defense University and a renovation of the Nalaikh aerodrome, etc.
During the PM's visit, the Ministry of Defense and the country’s army were reminded to play their part in the development projects of strategic importance, particularly, to ensure their preparedness to implement the Bogdkhan Railway project while cooperating with corresponding agencies and organizations for their cybersecurity measures, improving military discipline and accountability and keeping the military out of politics.
