Antibody test kit developed by Mongolian scholars ready for introduction
Mongolian scholars have developed a test kit that diagnoses antibody mediated immunity against the virus in a person infected with the coronavirus.
The trial of the test kit has become successful and they acquired intellectual property rights. Now the scholars are working to introduce the test kit into use.
With the “ELISA” kit, it is available to detect SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in blood and plasma, to study virus spread, and monitor the immune system of the population.
Academician of the Institute of Biology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Ts. Oyunsuren said that we have made studies for three months to develop the test kit. And the development of the test kit completed on August 1, 2020. The test is for the use of detecting whether the person who has recovered from the COVID-19 has antibodies. The Ministry of Education and Science provided funding of MNT 16 million for the first phase or for the development of the test kit and MNT 180 million for its trial, confirmation, and purchase of equipment. Now we are working to confirm the permission that the test kit can be used in Mongolia.
