Amount of dust particles in air reduced by about 60 percent
Capital city officials are providing weekly online briefing regarding current matters, starting from March 30.
To implement the Government’s decision to ban the usage of raw coal, public and administrative organizations of the capital city worked at a state of heightened readiness as according to the order of the Governor of the Capital City from October 1, 2019, to April 1, 2020, according to today's briefing. “166 officers monitored 154 khoroos in the zones to improve the air quality and conducted inspections at 5,572 locations. Although the period of heightened readiness has ended, inspections will continue to be conducted,” said Deputy Head of the Professional Inspection Department of the Capital S.Davaasuren. Section Head of the Air Pollution Reducing Department of Ulaanbaatar City G.Davaajargal said, “Despite many projects and programmes implemented on reducing air and environmental pollution in the past, there had been no significant changes. However, with the implementation of the Government’s Resolution no.62, air pollution has reduced by a very noticeable amount. Compared to the air quality statistics of previous years, the amount of dust particles during last winter in 2019-2020 has been reduced by about 60 percent.”
