The Mongolia-Japan-Chinese joint ‘Urban Development Forum-2019’ took place at the National University of Mongolia in UB. During the forum, representatives of the three countries shared their city development policies, way of governing, and experiences with developing infrastructure, assessed the current and future state of cities, and discussed solutions for pressing matters such as air pollution, traffic congestion, and residential density. Specifically, the cities’ representatives, as well as scholars and researchers, gave presentations on various topics related to city development, such as ‘City establishment and planning policies of Japan’, ‘New trends of a healthy city and ways to establish regional development’, ‘City planning based on transit’, ‘City planning for Tokyo: To be or not to be according to plan?’, and ‘Expansion of Ulaanbaatar’. Participants of the forum expressed their confidence that the suggestions and solutions being discussed at the forum will be considered in national policies to implement the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and strategic plans for city development.
