The taekwondo consecutively defeated Estonian, French, Azerbaijani, and Italian athletes, but then lost to an Iranian athlete in the gold match. This year, 33 Mongolian athletes competed in a total of seven sports including judo, taekwondo, shooting, archery, swimming, tennis, and ping-pong at the Universiade.
