The Bank of Mongolia in collaboration with the Mongolian Banking Association and Mongolian Numismatic Association launched the ‘Bank-95’ exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum of Zanabazar in honor of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolia’s banking sector. The exhibition is showcasing how the national currency of Mongolia has gone through different forms and designs over the years, from gold and silver coins used by Mongolians 800 years ago to silver ingot from the Qing dynasty, the country’s first paper money from the early days of the revolution of 1921 and the Bogd Khanate era, as well as the banknotes used from 1925 onward. Moreover, many interesting exhibits including historical photographs representing the banking sector’s establishment, payment tools and instruments, commemorative coins, and even the first counterfeit banknote of Mongolia are being displayed at the exhibition. The exhibition will be open until June free of charge.
