Agricultural cooperation between Mongolia and EU will be improved
Some joint projects and programs backed by the European Union are being carried out at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Lights Industry.
It was discussed during the meeting of Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry B.Batzorig and Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Mongolia Traian Laurentiu Hristea. Some joint projects and programs backed by the European Union are being carried out at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Lights Industry. The EU Ambassador expressed willingness to provide assistance in improving coordination between the projects, training the sector’s personnel and registering geographical indications to honey and sea buckthorn to the EU. The sides exchanged views on introducing euro standard to the sector of food, agriculture and light industry of Mongolia, selling Mongolian products on the European market, and implementing new technologies for improving sales. Moreover, they agreed to cooperate in supporting SMEs, promoting collaboration of some banks and financial institutions for supplying necessary equipment, and providing vocational, short- and long-term training for the sector’s specialists, students, especially agronomists, veterinarians, and food technologists, in the EU countries.
