Annual ‘Tsaatan Festival’ is to be held, at Dalai tour camp on the south-west side of Khuvsgul Lake. The aim of the festival is to introduce the reindeer herd, which is called the sixth type of livestock of Khuvsgul province, and promote the unique lifestyle of the Tsaatan ethnic minority, reindeer herders to foreigners and locals. The festival will be held for the 14th year along with interesting events such as reindeer race, shaman rituals, fireworks and visit to the Tsaatan tribe. There will also be various competitions for the tourists and travelers. Originally from across the border in what is now the Tuva Republic of Russia, the Tsaatan who live in the northern Khövsgöl Aimag of Mongolia are one of the last groups of nomadic reindeer herders in the world. Only about 40 families continue the tradition today.
