NEMA aims to increase applications of space technology in disaster protection
Action plan on Applications of Space Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development of the UNESCAP was discussed in Bangkok, Thailand.
Working group meeting of the Action plan on Applications of Space Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Major and Chief of Spatial Information and Technology Division of the National Emergency Management Agency Sodnomragchaa attended the meeting and he presented a report on the applications of space technology and the Internet-based disaster spatial information system in Mongolia. According to the National Emergency Management Agency, they aim to increase the applications of space technology in disaster protection activities, to develop internet-based disaster spatial information systems and to train staff in the applications of space technology. During the working group meeting, an Action plan on Applications of Space Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific was discussed, 41 potential objectives were selected of Sendai Framework’s goals and objectives and an action plan on applications of space technology for implementing these was formulated.
