A portrait of President of Mongolia Battulga.Kh, created by young artist Khairat.A from the western Bayan-Ulgii province has been sold for MNT 5 million or $2055 at an auction held during a New Year party. The string art or pin and thread art is an intensively spreading art type which is characterized by an arrangement of thread strung between pins to form geometric patterns or representational designs. Artist Khairat.A is becoming well-known for his sculptures and string artworks namely ‘Abai’, ‘Hero of Kazakh’ and ‘Best horse’. According to artist Khairat, it took him ten days to complete work of the 90х70cm portrait featuring 1200 pins of nails and about 750m threads. Now let’s have the musical break.
