Mongolia`s agriculture exports increased
The Government of Mongolia adopted Laws on livestock health and on Livestock gene pool to ensure the hygienic standards of meats to be exported.
The agricultural export reached 1.1 billion USD in 2017. Meat exports make up the majority of export products with 24,000 tons of meat exported in 2017.Specialists note that increasing meat exports are linked to the number of new meat processing factories that opened its door in 2017. 90 percent of the exported meat was horse meat. One of the hurdles for exporting Mongolian meat is the infectious disease outbreak in animals as well as its hygiene not meeting the international standards. Therefore, the Government of Mongolia adopted Laws on livestock health and on Livestock gene pool to ensure the hygienic standards of meats to be exported. Moreover, the second largest agricultural export was accounted as the cashmere. The Mongolian Wool and Cashmere Association reports that wool and cashmere companies saw revenue surpluses in 2017. Cashmere companies produced about 4 million USD worth of brushed cashmere and exported 70 percent of their products. Within the past year, 20 new wool and cashmere factories have opened. In addition, Mongolia`s leading brand Gobi Cashmere opened six new branches overseas. The Cashmere of Mongolia is recognized in the world as the finest cashmere.
