Longest Hole in Golf awaits verification from Guinness World Records
Two golfers from Northern Ireland hit 20,093 shots trekking 2,000km across Mongolia
Adam Rolston, from Coleraine in Northern Ireland, and his friend Ron Rutland have recently played the longest hole in the game ever. They made 20,093 shots within 82 days by climbing glaciers and crossing deserts as part of an unaided 2,000km trek across Mongolia. I dreamed of this moment. I felt as if I was playing the winning shot in the British Open, told Adam Rolston. He hit an average of 180 shots a day using a seven or eight iron to ensure the ball was as easy as possible to find, and at times played much shorter when faced with mountainous terrain. Along the way they endured everything from snow blizzards in the mountain ranges to blistering heat and dehydration in the Gobi desert, waded through rivers all the while pulling a specially-made 120kg cart loaded with hundreds of golf balls.
