Mongolia should be developed as industrial corridor. Sato Mutsumi, Director of Representative Office of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Mongolia presented the Detailed Report on General Study on Regional Development of Mongolia carried out by JICA. While meetring Mongolian President Kh Battulga Mr. Sato informed that the study suggests Mongolia should be developed as an industrial corridor, developing industrial corridor vertically and green development corridor horizontally. The study had been conducted for a whole year since February 2015, motivated by two main factors. At first, development gap between urban and rural areas have been widening as population gets denser and industrialization concentrates in Ulaanbaatar. Secondly, Mongolia’s economy hinges upon mining and therefore, a study had to be conducted concerning the development of other industrial sectors. President Battulga, while recalling his meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, said that they had talked about consolidating cooperation of Mongolia and Japan for development. “JICA’s releasing of the General Study of Regional Development is the most timely achievement”, noted the President.
