Academy Awards of Mongolia hosted for the first time. The first Cinema Awards ceremony to award the best works in Mongolian cinema was co-organized by Arts Council of Mongolia and IMAX Cinema. The first stage selection of the Cinema Awards considered 47 movies that were made in 2016, and resulted in the short-listing of 12 movies for 14 nominations for the film awards. Critically acclaimed film ‘Itgel’ bagged three awards in the categories ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Music Score’.
