Mongolia to export buckwheat to Japan
Japanese high-quality buckwheat, which is the main ingredient of Japanese soba noodle, is cultivated in Mongolian soil starting from this spring.
Mongolia is to export buckwheat to Japan. Japanese high-quality buckwheat, which is the main ingredient of Japanese soba noodle, is cultivated in Mongolian soil starting from this spring. Japanese agriculture specialists from Shizuoka Prefecture, which has cooperative relations with Selenge province visited Zuunburen soum and shared their experience on buckwheat cultivation. In past several soums of Selenge province have experience in cultivating buckwheat; however, due to the fall of crop sales as well as the absence of buckwheat hulls cleaning machines or a special factory the province stopped to planting it. But now the local farmers are happy to cultivate buckwheat again as they will sell the crop to a foreign market. Planting will be made with Kitawase, the best Japanese sort of buckwheat seed and the crop will be supplied to Japanese market by the authorities of Selenge aimag together with Japanese ‘Daiwon” company.
