Public art with a social agenda is something new in Mongolia. Young artists recently opened “Social Art” exhibition at Q Art Gallery to promote the development of social consciousness through the art. “Social Art” aims to increase capacity building for civic organizations. The exhibition features a variety of styles and themes that reflect a diverse set of talents within the local community. From paintings of natural landscapes, objects, abstract images, and everyday life, the artists represented in the exhibition hope to raise public awareness of human rights and social issues in Mongolia. The works of art are for sale and proceeds from the sale of the art will help launch a project to open a skills development center for people living with disabilities.
