Transit transportation to be intensified.
Transit transportation to be intensified. Mongolia is hosting a regular meeting of the Trans-Siberian Transportation coordinating council with 130 delegations from 26 counties. The meeting is being organized by Mongolian-Russian joint venture company “Ulaanbaatar Railway” with the purpose to increase the company’s regional economic participation and to intensify transit transportation. Ulaanbaatar Railway is the primary route connecting Russia and China which was established between 1949 and 1956. Mongolia is sandwiched between China and Russia, making it a natural buffer zone separating these Eurasian giants. Ulaanbaatar Railway connects the Trans-Siberian railway to the Chinese network. The Ulaanbaatar Railway is capable to deliver some 25 million tonnes of freight which is planned to be increased to 34 million tonnes.
