Less than a week left for Mongolia’s Parliamentary Elections to take place. According to the General Election Commission, 498 candidates, coming from 12 parties, three coalitions or as independents, will run for 76 seats of the State Great Khural, as well as posts in local law-making councils. The General Election Committee provided the number of eligible voters in the capital city and it  some 924,600 voters in 397 locations. The main race for 29 June elections will likely be done between the two largest parties, namely the ruling Democratic Party and the oppositional Mongolian People's Party. Mongolian political life is shaped by this four year election cycle. The party or coalition that gets most of the seats in parliament in the election forms the government and appoints prime minister. The candidates advocate improved livelihood for ordinary people and measures to boost the national economy. Human-centered issues, like promotion of employment, increasing income generation, offering better educational opportunities for young people, offering better health care services for the aged, more kindergartens for children etc also list higher on the election platform.
