Record number of candidates to run for Mongolian parliamentary elections. The candidates are being handed over their nominees’ certificates. 498 candidates from 12 parties, three coalitions and 69 independent candidates will run for the June 29 elections, told the General Election Committee at a press conference. It is the record number of candidates nominated for election to the 76-member unicameral State Great Khural or parliament. By gender, 129 or 25.9% of candidates are women. According to the election law they will start their election campaign on coming Saturday, on June 11 or 18 days up to the day before election day. This year’s parliamentary elections are 7^th to date democratic elections since 1992.
