Mongolia and Iran are to expand bilateral ties. A MoU was signed by Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and Economic Development of Mongolia and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar. The document envisages upgrading the cooperation in political, economic and cultural domains. Mongolia and Iran will also engage in close consultations and exchange information on bilateral relations and international developments to develop common understanding. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister was in Mongolia at the invitation of Mongolia’s Foreign Minister Lundeg Purevsuren to participate in a ceremony held to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Tehran and Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia is interested to employ Iranian experiences in the fields of historical studies, desertification, drip irrigation and oil exploration. Given the existing potentials of the two countries, there are avenues for the expansion of bilateral ties in the economic, trade and academic fields.
