Several thousand pairs of shoes were placed at the central square of Mongolian capital city Ulaanbaatar in protest at existing injustice, inequality, irresponsibility and in a word, every wrongdoing in social life. Each pair of shoes expressed protest, concern, warning, or suggestions on a piece of cardboard. Some protested against burring nuclear wastes in Mongolia, others let politicians know that the nation has the right to impeach MPs, as the nation elects politicians to represent them in Parliament. The peaceful shoe demonstration was part of the Thief-free Mongolia Action of Mongolian Youth Federation (MYF). During the demonstration the Mongolian Youth Federation made public a list of 100 “black” events that happened in Mongolia since 1992 and which threatened the national security, the interests of the nation, the environment, and social values. The Federation called upon the electors not to give their votes for thieves and hypocrites while electing a new parliament at the end of June.
