The severe winter, locally named the dzud threatens the livelihoods of some 500,000 Mongolian nomadic herdsmen or one-sixth of Mongolia’s overall populationMongolian government in partnership with international organizations has been delivering food aid, cash grants, hay, animal fodder, medical supplies and warm clothing to aid herders’ communities suffering from the die-off and struggling most.
