Democracy issues are promoted. Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a workshop themed “Democratic transitions in Asia” in partnership with the International Institute for Democracy. The workshop aims to share with other countries the achievements and challenges of Mongolia in its effort to develop and strengthen democracy. The “Democratic transitions in Asia” workshop gathered together governmental and civil society representatives from dozen Asian countries. They gave reports and exchanged views on election matters which are main parts of democratic principles, as well as shared views on experiences on democratic development, and electoral lessons. Some 25 years ago, Mongolia accomplished the transition to democracy and established its first independent electoral institute. Mongolia’s electoral legal framework and election systems are considered to be a good example for the regional countries.
