WWF Mongolia organized snow leopard collaring expedition.
WWF Mongolia organized snow leopard collaring expedition. That was once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some international donors and media representatives to track, collar and release snow leopards in Mongolia’s Altai-Sayan Mountains. The ultimate goal of the two-week expedition was to gather critical data on snow leopard behavior that will guide scientists to protect their homeland. Donors from Singapore and Netherlands had a chance to see this majestic animal in the wild on the donor trip on the first week of the expedition. That provided a valuable momentum for the donors to feel conservation on the ground and see where their money go. On the second week of the expedition, international media representatives and a professional wildlife photographer had an once-in-a-lifetime chance to collar two snow leopards. Incredible job was done by journalists with their stories that came after the trip and was a real tribute to the dedication of the Mongolia team and overall WWF’s efforts in conservation of these elusive big cats.
