Local awareness of Mongolian Antelope is raised. World Wide Mongolia celebrated the return of the Mongolia Antelope to its historic home range through an inspiring event entitled “Welcome home” in Uvs province of north western Mongolia. The event aims to remark the achievement and make aware of the reasons why Antelope needs to be protected to the authorities of province and its residents. During the event local residents and authorities provided information on the values of Mongolian Antelope through Question and Answer game and discussion forum amongst participants. Mongolian Saiga or Antelope is an endemic to Mongolia that inhabit only in the valley of Western Mongolia. Researchers stress out that the re-introduction of the Mongolian Saiga is important to increase and stabilize the population until it naturally reaches its viable population. This area where Saiga has extended its range has been assessed as ecologically suitable for the re-introduction, according to the scientists. During the disastrous winter of 2001-2002 where natural disaster called “dzud” happened, the population of Mongolian Saiga fell down to 750 animals only. Fortunately, complex of conservation and communication interventions saved the animal from the danger of extinction, with the latest population assessment reaching over 15,000 heads.
