Mongolia plans to launch a base in Antarctica. Chairman of the Water Association of Mongolia Dr Batmonkh said the association plans to ask from the government USD 250 thousand for launching a base on Livingston Island of Antarctica. In March 2015, Mongolia joined the Antarctic Treaty System. Dr Batmonkh has been working on a joint research project with a Bulgarian team to select the ideal location for a national research base in Antarctica. If the government approves the idea, Mongolian researchers will be able to run water and mineral resources researches. During expeditions in Antarctica, Mongolian scientists settled borderlines for its base and documented heights and locations of the place by photo and video.
