Mongolian mathematician solves Malfatti’s Problem. The director of the Institute of Mathematics at the National University of Mongolia, professor Enkhbat solved Malfatti’s Problem, which has been unsolved for the last 200 years. Mongolian professor Enkhbat found the solution to using the theory of optimization after trying to solve it for nine years. The solution to Malfatti’s problem is useful for the development of modern computer technology. Professor Enkhbat arranged for the solution to be printed in the world renowned Journal of Global Optimization, published by Springer. The Journal of Global Optimization is a high ranking scientific journal which publishes discoveries and solutions of world’s leading scientists. The Problem of Malfatti was written in 1803 by Gian Francesco Malfatti, an Italian mathematician and it’s been attracting scientists of many generations. Russian mathematicians Victor Zalgaller and G. A. Los came closest to solving the problem. They defined the range of the best solution in 1994 using geometric and trigonometric methods.
