Mongolia’s got 56 million heads of livestock. The nation’s livestock population increased 8 percent or 4 million compared to the previous year, according to the 2015 report of the National Statistical office. Mongolian livestock population is composed of sheep, cows, horses, goats and camels. Sheep and goats constitute most of the nation’s livestock population. The camel is the least numbered. The livestock population in central provinces increases significantly in recent years thanks to improved herding techniques and warmer weather. Just before the New Year Mongolia welcomed the first offspring in eastern Dornod province and it was the triplet calves. It is a good omen in Mongolian livestock herding tradition that predicts an excellent growth of livestock population in the years to come.
