Non-resident Ambassador of Colombia to Mongolia, H. E. Alejandro Peláez Rodriguez presented diplomatic credentials to H.E. Uknaagiin Khürelsükh, President of Mongolia.

    H.E. Uknaagiin Khürelsükh, President of Mongolia received on Monday the 21st of April 2025 the credentials of H.E. Alejandro Peláez-Rodriguez as non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Colombia to Mongolia. Ambassador Alejandro Peláez-Rodriguez conveyed to H.E. Uknaagiin Khürelsükh, President of Mongolia the greetings of H. E. Gustavo Petro Urrego, President of the Republic of Colombia, as well as his wishes for His Excellency´s personal good health and happiness, and continued progress and prosperity to the Government and People of Mongolia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Alejandro Peláez Rodriguez shall exert every effort to continue to expand the excellent relations and cooperation, existing for 36 years, since 1988 between the Republic of Colombia and Mongolia. Ambassador Alejandro Peláez will focus his agenda on matters of mining and energy, agriculture, gender, enhanced trade opportunities and people to people exchanges, with special emphasis on tourism, as well as in matters of regional and multilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Alejandro Peláez-Rodriguez congratulates Mongolia on the assumption as Co-chair for Asia of the FEALAC on the occasion of the 10th Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in 2025. In his capacity, as Co-chair for Colombia of the Working Group on Cultures, Youth and Sports of FEALAC, Ambassador Alejandro Pelaez underlines the opportunity to jointly with Mongolia give impulse to cultural and sports exchanges within this framework.

Ambassador Alejandro Peláez-Rodríguez´s presentation of diplomatic credentials further enhances the increased diplomatic activities between the Republic of Colombia and Mongolia, including the celebration on 18 December 2024 of the IV Meeting of Political Consultations held in Bogotá on the occasion of the visit of H.E. Zoljargal Seseer, nonresident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Colombia for the presentation of copies of his Letters of Credence to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jorge Rojas.

The IV Meeting of Political Consultations between the Republic of Colombia and Mongolia was also attended by the Director General of the Department of the Americas, Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Mr. Amagaland Anand. At the time, an agreement for the mutual exemption of visas for bearers of ordinary passports was signed, pending internal proceedings for entry into force.

It is to be noted that the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Colombia and Mongolia signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Colombia”, during a meeting between H.E. B. Battaseg and then Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Alvaro Leyva, held on the margins of 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, on 20th September 2023.
