The Government of Mongolia has initiated the “One Tourist-One Sheep” program targeted at tourists from South Korea
The Government of Mongolia has initiated the “One Tourist-One Sheep” program targeted at tourists from South Korea, following the declaration of 2023-2025 as “Years to Visit Mongolia.” To promote this program, 15 influencers with followers ranging from 300,000 to 17,000,000 from South Korea’s “Thestar N CO” entertainment network have arrived in Mongolia. Tourists who receive a sheep can choose either to slaughter it for food or to leave it with a host family for care and feeding. They can also regularly monitor their sheep's growth and care using the "Own LiveStock" app. The herders participating in the "One Tourist - One Sheep" program not only provide sheep to tourists but also introduce them to the traditional nomadic culture of Mongolia. Also, nomadic herders can offer services such as morning, day, and evening meals, horse riding, guided tours through the natural landscapes of their region, and more, all for a fee.
