US Secretary of Defense Commends Mongolia's UN Peacekeeping Contributions

The United States Secretary of Defense Austin paid a courtesy call to Mongolian Premier Oyun-Erdene last week and exchanged views on defense cooperation. Mr. Oyun-Erdene expressed his gratitude to the US government for its cooperation in strengthening the capacity of the Mongolian Armed Forces and for support in enabling Mongolia to increase its participation in UN peacekeeping operations. In turn, Secretary of Defense Austin extended his high appreciation to Mongolia for its contribution to UN peacekeeping operations and the skills of the Mongolian Armed Forces. Furthermore, Mr. Austin expressed his profound gratitude for taking part in peacekeeping operations "shoulder-to-shoulder" with American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan over numerous years.
