Pope Francis will travel to Mongolia at the end of August, the Vatican confirmed on Thursday, indicating his health is improving well enough to travel to the most remote area he has ever visited. The Vatican has published a detailed schedule for the period from August 31 to September. 86-year-old Francis, who spent nine days in the hospital last month after undergoing surgery to remove a hernia, is due to visit Portugal from August 2 to August 4. Francis will spend all his time in Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of a vast country with only about 1,300 Catholics.
