The National Script as ordained by Chingis Khan was first celebrated in 2004, on the 800th anniversary of the script, by the commandment of the President of Mongolia. This year will be the 20th consecutive year celebrating the National Script. The National Script Day is set to be held on the first Sunday of May every year. In preparation for this year’s celebration the “Mongolian Script-2025” exclusive exhibition opened at the Chingis Khan Museum yesterday. The minister of Education and Science stated that the government is working to start a dual-script style of working from 2025, which includes the modern Cyrillic and the traditional Mongolian script. According to a survey conducted in the framework of this plan, more than half of the government employees are supportive and prepared for this dual-script style. There are courses in traditional script writing and reading already being taught for employees. The ministry is also working to develop means of learning and practicing the traditional script virtually through online resources and mobile applications.
