The 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union or IPU Assembly and its related meetings were held in Manama, Bahrain last week.
The 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union or IPU Assembly and its related meetings were held in Manama, Bahrain last week. Mongolia joined the IPU in 1962 as a member country. The establishment of the permanent functioning parliament of Mongolia in 1992 has brought the cooperation between the Mongolian Parliament and the IPU to the next level. During the assembly, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Mr. Munkhbaatar met with the President of the IPU Mr. Duarte Pacheco, and Secretary General Mr. Martin Chungong and exchanged views on further expanding the cooperation between the Mongolian Parliament and the IPU. The General Debate focused on the overall theme of Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Inclusive Society. In addition, the assembly adopted resolutions on Cyberattacks and Cybercrimes: The New Risks to Global Security and Parliamentary Efforts in Achieving Negative Carbon Balances of Forests. At the end of the assembly, the Manama Statement was adopted as an outcome document, and the Republic of Angola was selected as the host country for the 147th Assembly of the IPU.
