Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and First Lady Jill Biden will honor women who have made significant impacts at the 17th annual International Women of Courage or IWOC Award Ceremony on March 8.

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and First Lady Jill Biden will honor women who have made significant impacts at the 17th annual International Women of Courage or IWOC Award Ceremony on March 8. This year IWOC-2023 Award will recognize 11 extraordinary women from around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage, strength, and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equity, and equality, often at great personal risk and sacrifice. Mongolia’s first female Brigadier General, Bolor Ganbold, who currently heads the Military Training and Education Department of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces is one of the recipients of the 2023 International Women Courage Award. She has been serving in the Mongolian military for 30 years. Bolor Ganbold who was once Mongolia’s first female cadet and now is the country’s first female general was deployed as the first Mongolian female staff officer to the United Nations Mission and the first Mongolian Peacekeeping Affairs Officer at the UN Headquarters. Interestingly, the ceremony will take place at the White House for the first time in the award’s history.
