Open Debate of the UN Security Council Held on Rule of Law
UN Security Council ministerial-level open debate was held under the theme “Promotion and Strengthening of the Rule of Law in the Maintenance of International Peace and Security
UN Security Council ministerial-level open debate was held under the theme “Promotion and Strengthening of the Rule of Law in the Maintenance of International Peace and Security: the Rule of Law Among Nations” on January 12, 2023. The permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations participated in the open debate. In his address, he reaffirmed Mongolia’s unwavering support for the rule of law, and also highlighted initiatives undertaken towards strengthening international peace and security, such as the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue mechanism, Mongolia’s nuclear-weapon-free status, and its participation in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. In addition, UN Security Council's open debate was chaired by the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Security Council. The UN Secretary-General, Presidents of the International Court of Justice, and Professor of Public International Law at Oxford University briefed the debate. Representatives from more than 70 countries participated in the open debate.
