Mongolia-UNESCO Cooperation Advances to New Level

Mongolian National Commission or MNC for UNESCO held its annual all-members meeting on January 13, 2023. In her opening speech Mrs. Battsetseg, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO highlighted the advancement in cooperation between Mongolia and UNESCO to a new level and concrete outcomes in 2022. Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that last year marked the 60th anniversary of Mongolia’s accession to UNESCO. And she expressed that on the occasion of this anniversary, we invited the Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, to Mongolia and her visit was significant to advance the relations and cooperation between the two sides and increase our contribution to UNESCO’s mission. Then the representatives of the participating organizations exchanged views on implementing more optimal projects and programs, improving their transparency and outcomes, and evolving the cooperation in the framework of our single window foreign policy in the further. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Battsetseg called upon relevant ministries and their partner organizations to pay special attention to intensifying the MNC’s operations, improving coordination, reinvigorating our country’s participation in UNESCO convention and intergovernmental activities, promoting our country through this organization and registering Mongolian historical and natural monuments and historical evidence to the UNESCO’s commission and programs. Furthermore, the Secretary General of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO presented the performance report of the 2022 plan, and agreed to adopt the draft plan of 2023.
