“Smart Government II” Project to be Implemented in 2023-2027

On December 14, Minister of Digital Development and Communications Mr. Uchral held a meeting with World Bank Country Director for China and Mongolia, and Director for Korea Ms. Mara K. Warwick. During the meeting, the Minister underlined that concrete results have been yielded as a result of the “Smart Government” project that was jointly implemented by the Government of Mongolia and the World Bank in 2015-2022. The “Smart Government II” project will be implemented in 2023-2027 with the aim to improve Mongolia’s legal and regulatory environment for building trust and cyber-security in the use of digital technologies. The project will also enable the development of public services, shared use of cloud computing, and cyber-security services in the public sector. The project also aims to help develop Mongolia's digital economy in response to the impact of disruptive technologies transforming economies and societies globally, and to provide new opportunities for Mongolia's development. For the digital economy, the project will provide skills and literacy training to 13,000 civil servants and citizens, create 3,000 new digital jobs for youth and women, and help digitalize 2,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to improve their competitiveness and resilience in the global economy. The Minister put forth a request to cooperate with the World Bank in the directions such as strengthening the competitiveness of the human resource in the ITC and involving them in short-term training programs, supporting the business environment, introducing digital solutions, and digitalizing and facilitating some processes in international trade.
