MP B.Jargalmaa represents the Mongolian Parliament at the IPU Young Parliamentarians Forum
The first sitting of the IPU Young Parliamentarians Forum was held on May 13 where Mrs. B.Jargalmaa, a member of the State Great Hural has represented the Mongolian Parliament.
The main theme of the session was ‘Contributing to the work of the 142nd Assembly from a youth perspective’ and the participants have discussed the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on economic empowerment, education, health, and political participation of youth.
At the opening of the session, Mr. Melvin Bouva MP, the president of the IPU Young Parliamentarians Forum, has stated that the 2.6% of the world parliamentarians are under the age of 30 that indicates youth political participation is globally very low. Therefore, he continued, we need to emphasize increasing youth representations and voices reaching the parliamentary level and need to further stress on promoting parliamentary roles and engagements in the public networks. The meeting was instrumental in prioritizing youth participation in post-pandemic political programs and in defining youth responsive policies, legislation, and budget allocation strategies to support youth.
