Environment Minister meets EU Ambassador
Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Sarangerel received Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Traian Hristea on October 29.
Minister of Environment and Tourism D.Sarangerel received Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia Traian Hristea on October 29 and exchanged views on the projects being implemented within the bilateral cooperation, particularly the works in the field of recycling waste. Ambassador Traian Hristea said he is satisfied with the ongoing bilateral cooperation in the environment sector. “The European Union has numerous major activities in the environment sector of Mongolia, including the projects towards recycling construction waste, improving Ulaanbaatar city waste management, resolving the Ger area insulation system, and promoting wool and cashmere production.” The Ambassador expressed readiness for collaboration in strengthening the cooperation in the sector and further resolving pressing issues in the environment sector. He also invited the Minister, as a chair of a group of women parliamentarians, to attend a workshop on the protection of children’s rights to be held on November 10-11. For her part, the Minister thanked the EU and its members for their valuable contribution to the works related to the development of environmental legislation, resilience to climate changes, protection of biodiversity, and external cooperation. “Support of the EU is essential to reduce waste, one of the factors of soil pollution, and improve relevant management. I hope we will meet again shortly to formulate a detailed plan of cooperation in the environment sector,” said Ms. Sarangerel.
