Speaker meets Ambassador of Canada
Speaker of the State Great Khural (Parliament) G.Zandanshatar on October 30 met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Catherine Ivkoff to exchange views on enhancing trade and economic cooperation, ensuring gender equality, and other current issues. At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Catherine Ivkoff said COVID-19 efforts of the Government of Mongolia and relevant bodies have been effective and that Canada has been implementing projects and programs in Mongolia to support the country in achieving citizen-centered service delivery, managing its mineral revenues, ensuring economic empowerment of women, and fighting gender-based violence. Emphasizing that the two countries cooperate through shared values of democracy, human rights, and rule of law, Speaker G.Zandanshatar expressed his pleasure that Canada has always been supporting and cooperating with Mongolia by making investments and implementing development projects and programs. The Speaker informed that 40 laws are to be adopted as part of the legal reform following the constitutional amendments and that parliament’s activities are being digitized, in particular, with the launch of lawmaker.parliament.mn platform for lawmakers and lawforum.parliament.mn for citizens. He also noted that the Parliament is aiming to support foreign trade, attract investments, and improve the legal environment.
