Railway transport up by 1.3 million tons
In the first seven months of 2020, 16.9 million tons of freight was transported by railway.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the carried freight increased by 8.6 percent or 1.3 million tons. The increase was mainly due to 1.3 million tons (22.6 percent) of increase in export freight, and 84.2 thousand tons (3.7 percent) of the increase in-transit freight. In July, carried freight reached 2.5 million tons and grew up by 152.4 thousand tons compared to the previous month. In the first seven months of this year, 1.6 thousand tons of freight was carried by air transportation, which is a declined performance by 1.6 thousand tons (50.9 percent) compared to the same period of last year. The international freight reached 1.5 thousand tons, showing a decrease of 1.6 thousand tons (51.6 percent) compared to the same time of the previous year, the National Statistical Office reports.
