Minister of Mining meets Japanese Ambassador
Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry G.Yondon has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Kobayashi Hiroyuki.
Congratulating the Minister on his recent appointment and wishing a success, the Ambassador expressed his commitment to further strengthen the strategic partnership and work closely in economic and investment spheres. Thanking the Ambassador, the Minister expressed his confidence in the development of a wide range of bilateral relations and further expansion of cooperation in the mining sector. A Memorandum of Understanding on the Dry Beneficiary of Coal Project was signed between the Ministry and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan in 2017. However, the project implementation has been postponed until 2021. The Ambassador touched upon the continuation of the project, stressing the significance of implementing the project in the Gobi region using the dry beneficiation technique as there are a number of challenges including scarce water resources, etc. Furthermore, Minister briefed on the policies and activities being carried out by the Government of Mongolia in the mining sector.
