Deputy Prime Minister meets Ambassador of Russia
On May 5, Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia I.K.Azizov and Russian Embassy Secretaries.
The sides discussed the project to build the Power of Siberia 2 natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of 50 billion cubic meters from Russia to China through Mongolia, including project collaboration and management, as well as the training of specialists. During his visit to Russia in December 2019, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh laid the foundations for the project that has been under discussion for over 20 years, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Mongolia and Gazprom company of Russia. On March 31, 2020, the National Security Council of Mongolia held a meeting and issued a resolution to set up a working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin for the project. Last December saw the launch of the Power of Siberia pipeline with a capacity to transport 38 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia to China annually.
