Possibilities to develop beneficial cooperation in mining sector introduced in Japan

The Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry Mr. Sumiyabazar visited Japan last week. During his visit, a Mongolian Mining Investment Forum was held and Mongolia’s investment climate, opportunities, and Government implementing policies in the mining sector were introduced to over 300-business delegations.“Trade turnover between Mongolia and Japan has reached USD 600 million. The Japanese side has made a huge investment in the energy sector of Mongolia in the past. Now, there is a possibility for producing high-quality final products with the help of Japanese technologies and run mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Director of ‘Erdenes Mongol’ LLC highlighted. Foreign direct investment of USD 23.9 billion has been made to Mongolia between 1990 and 2018. 73 percent of them were made in the mining sector and it shows the role of the sector in the economy. The Mongolian Government is pursuing a policy to create an open and transparent environment to investors and protect the interests of business people.
