Within the framework of goals set by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to develop border area tourism, electric screen displays with tourism guide apps were delivered to the Governor’s Office of the 21 border checkpoints of Mongolia. The screens will provide all types of information about Mongolia to foreign tourists arriving in Mongolia through border ports and introduce landmarks, national parks, and reserves and tourist destinations of historic and cultural values in all 21 provinces of Mongolia. Advice and guidance on getting health and security assistance in Mongolia will be displayed on the screens as well. All information on the screen displays are in English for now, but more languages will be added in the near future, according to officials of the Tourism Ministry. Installing the travel guide screens is expected to reduce problems faced by tourists during their travel through Mongolia and open up the development of border tourism. Development of tourism industry is reflected in the government’s plan to boost the economy as a priority and promotion of border tourism is an important part of it.
