Mongolia-Philippines Policy Consultation held
The 3rd Mongolia-Philippines Policy Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs was held in Manila, Philippines.
The date also marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. At the beginning of the meeting Deputy Minister B.Battsetseg presented the greetings of the President of Mongolia Battulga to the President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte. The sides expressed willingness to intensify bilateral relations at all levels and agreed to increase the frequency of high level visits, expand cooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture, education, sports and tourism. A Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening cooperation mechanism between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs was signed between the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines. The number of tourists are increasing with the expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation. In this regard, the parties emphasized the importance of improving the legal environment to develop the cooperation. Moreover, Mr. Enrique Manalo expressed interest in establishing direct contacts between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and sending its business delegation to Mongolia. In addition to supporting the initiatives, Deputy Minister Battsetseg noted that Mongolia is willing to cooperate closely with the Philippines, an influential and active member of the ASEAN, at the regional level, especially deepen the cooperation, that has been developed within the ASEAN Regional Forum. She also requested to support Mongolia’s participation in the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN dialogue partner status. The parties shared information on their labor market and agreed to establish ties between the Ministries of Labor and Social Protection, intensify exchanges in culture, education and sport sectors, and renew the cooperation document and programs in these fields.
